Councillor Christian Cox
Councillor for Millbrook
Cllr Christian Cox has represented Millbrook ward since 2023 and was re-elected in 2024. He serves on the Planning Panel and Housing Scrutiny Panel and is the Council’s governor on the Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust.
Born at Princess Anne Hospital, Christian has lived in Southampton all his life and now shares his home with his partner. He works for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in Strategic Commissioning, helping to identify government research priorities in social care. He is also completing a PhD, navigating the additional challenge of legal disputes around the intellectual property involved in his research.
Outside of work and council duties, Christian enjoys creative and technical hobbies. He is the Game Master for several RPG campaigns and also spends time on electronics and coding projects.
Christian first became actively involved in politics after the pandemic, frustrated by the failures of the Conservative government and determined to help Labour deliver for local people. He is passionate about making Southampton a city that gets the basics right for its residents—where local services are reliable, communities are supported, and all areas of the city feel valued and included
