Southampton Labour is focused on delivering growth and prosperity for all and welcomes the new Growth and Prosperity plan that was agreed at Cabinet on Tuesday 25^th November 2025.

Cllr Sarah Bogle, Cabinet Member for Economic Development said ‘this is the first plan of its kind, bringing many interlinked areas together, including jobs, skills, housing, transport, energy supply and culture.  We are committed to further embedding the Southampton Pound principles of creating and keeping wealth local, so our residents feel the benefits, from better paid jobs to decent infrastructure.’

Cllr Alex Winning, Leader of the Council said ‘we are the biggest city in Hampshire, a real engine of growth for the region;  the opportunities for Southampton and the region are huge and this plan is all about realising that potential.  As mayoral devolution approaches, we are ready with a pipeline of projects, some of which are already off the starting blocks.  We are working closely with partner organisations in the city from the football club and the NHS to the universities and the port and the wider business community.  This is Southampton’s time.’
