Cllr Steve Leggett has represented Banister & Polygon ward since 2023, having previously served as councillor for Freemantle ward from 2018. He is currently Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee (OSMC). Beyond the council, Steve has been a governor at Banister Primary School since 2018.

Steve has an academic background in politics and conservation, with research focusing on biodiversity and the environment. This fuels his political priorities: the environment, biodiversity, air quality, and sustainable economic development.

In his free time, Steve enjoys long-distance running, reading, cooking, cinema, and exploring nature. He admits to a guilty pleasure too—his PlayStation 5.

Steve’s passion is representing the community he calls home. Living in a multicultural ward where around a quarter of residents speak English as a second language, he is committed to ensuring Banister & Polygon remains a welcoming and inclusive place for all.
