Cllr Sarah Bogle has represented Bargate ward since 2006. She is the Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Growth and Skills, leading on planning, skills and adult learning, employment support, major site development, and property management. She also serves on the Solent Freeport Board.
Outside the council, Sarah works as a Research and Enterprise Manager in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Southampton. She has a lifelong love of music and sings in the University of Southampton Voices choir. She once played the oboe and piano, though nowadays she finds less time to practise. A History graduate of Manchester University, she remains fascinated by Southampton’s rich heritage.
Sarah first stood for office wanting to give back the experience she had gained in industry and to make a real difference in her community. At the time, there were fewer women involved in politics, which gave her an added motivation to step forward.
Her priorities are helping to create greater prosperity for all residents and ensuring that growth is both fair and sustainable. Sarah is proud to serve Bargate, a ward that is constantly changing and growing, and enjoys working with such a dynamic community.
